Nutshell - Survey on Data Types and Data Management Needs (useful for WP5)

As part of the preparation of the project proposal, this short survey aims to identify the types of data that may be generated across all Work Packages.

WP5 is responsible for coordinating data management at project level, including data collection, storage, sharing, and long-term preservation, in line with FAIR principles and European regulations.

The primary data management system currently envisaged is OpenADOM, which is well suited for tabular data (e.g. surveys, experimental factors, agronomic trials). However, additional types of data (e.g. spatial data, images, remote sensing, genomics, audio or video) may be generated and would require complementary storage and management solutions (e.g. shared file systems such as Nextcloud).

The objective of this survey is therefore to:

  • Identify the types of data expected in each Work Package

  • Estimate their approximate volumes

  • Identify any personal or sensitive data

The survey is intentionally short and exploratory. Approximate estimates are sufficient at this stage.

Thank you for your contribution.

There are 12 questions in this survey.
Section A – Identification
Work Package(s) concerned
WP leader name + partner organisation
Section B - Tabular / structured data
Your WP will (probably) generate tabular or structured data. If yes, which types of tabular data will be generated?

If you have already an idea : estimated volume of tabular data over the whole project

(number of "lines" of the table(s)).

Very precise question, please don't hesitate to skip if no info.

Section C - Other data types (non-tabular)
Will your WP generate any of the following data types?
For the selected data types, please estimate the total data volume
Section D - Data sensitivity and personal data

Personal and sensitive data – clarification

Personal data refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (e.g. name, email address, images, voice recordings, location data).

Sensitive data is a subset of personal data that requires enhanced protection under GDPR, such as health data, genetic data, biometric data, or data related to vulnerable populations or ethically sensitive topics.

Confidential business or farm-level data may also require specific access restrictions, even if they are not personal data.

Will your WP generate personal data (data relating to identified or identifiable individuals)?
If yes, which types of personal data?

Will your WP generate sensitive data?

(See the clarification in the "group of questions" description)

If yes, please specify the type of sensitive data
Section E – Data management needs

Do you foresee specific constraints for data storage or sharing?

(If you know already, if not, don't worry and leave that empty)
